1-12-01 ..... Supplemental
Did a mega revision session down the library, and now, fed up with work so going out for the night, not sure where or for how long though as normal. I think we that will probably end up eating out cos the caf food is awful.
1-12-01 (First Day of Advent Saturday)
Managed a grant total of 4 hours sleep last night, so Im knackered, that being said I got an hours work done this morning, and so Im nearly finished learning all my F&A Climatology.
New Plan for stuff to do is that I will stay with Alexa on Vancouver Island, in Victoria I think over New years. But Im looking into coming home in reading week, from the 14th to the 24th of February, next year (2002).
30-11-01
I have finally finished and handed in my Entomology Project, I feel so free!! I have also handed in my job application and resume for a job at Safe walk. Safe walk is a program run by the AMS (student Union) which you can phone up, and 2 people will come and pick you up, and walk you where ever. It's basically to stop people getting attacked and stuff, though I haven't heard of that happening anyway. Other than that today I had all my last classes, and so I have no finished except for exams!!!!!!
Andy and I have just been swimming at I think Im gonna watch a film with Matt and Leigh now. At the swimming baths we were appalled with the safety and life Guarding, the pool is pretty big (bigger than Fleetwood) it also curves round, and have a slide, 2 diving boards, 5 cordoned off lanes and tonight it had an inflatable. With out the inflatable in the UK there would need to by at least 3, probably 4 LifeGuards. Here there are only 2, its crazy they stand no chance if stuff is about to happen, its a joke, so Andy and I complained and wrote a letter to the management.
Tomorrow, I think Im gonna sleep in and then start with the hard-core revision. Tomorrow night I think some of us are going out on the piss, on last time for the week ahead.

I hate insects, I have just spent ages doing all the presentation for my entomology collection, and I hate it, it takes forever. I got a bit of revision done before and now, have an essay plan to do for my geography for Lancaster uni. I haven't done that much other than work today, so not much to write about. Last night I just did work and talked to some people from home on MSN.

28-11-01 (Wednesday Night, not doing work still)
Today I managed to sleep into 11, crazy. I then wrote my resume for a job at safe walk. I then went to my Forestry and Agriculture class, and then filled out and handed forms in. That sadly is where the productivity of my day ends, for the rest of the day I have been trying to do revision, and failing eminently!
I went to the sub in the afternoon to clear my head, and ended up buying 3 CDs I got:

Originally they were $7 each, so I asked for them for $15, he said no way, that cheaper than his 7 for $30 offer. He said $20, then I talked him down to $18, I though the deal was going though. Then I asked him about returning them, the Happy Mondays was a bit scratched (it works I have just listened to it) so he now said, you can have both New Order for $7 each and I will throw in for free. So in the end I got all 3 for $14, $1 less that the price he first turned down.
28-11-01 (00:04 Wednesday Morning)
Annekas gone, she left this evening after me, her and Mat went out for food at White Spot. I have decided the Chicken Quesidea is the food to go for there. Today I finally finished classifying all my insects for Entomology, now all I have to do is make them look good, and learn all the work for my mid-terms, a task that should take about 3 weeks.
In 2 weeks time, I will have finished all my exams finally, and be getting Pissed and really for skiing. But until then I have plenty of work on, so I should start to mess about with my web page a bit soon.
Yesterday I had classes and then started revision, although Anneka was here, I needed to learn some stuff, but then we went out to Keorners bar at night, and got pissed. Between the 3 of us we only had 3 pitures, but because the beer was horrible that was enough. Apparently the bar staff at Keorners had pissed up the booze order and so they only had 4 of the normal 9 Beers (Ales, Biters, Largers) and because theses were all that was left they we of course dire.
Right Im of to bed now, to get some much needed sleep (this time I can sleep in for a wile, no class until 12 tomorrow)
25-11-01 (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
Yesterdays trip to the Vancouver Aquarium, was pretty good, looked at some fish, a few other forms of marine life, and generally forgot about work and stuff. I have decided being a dolphin for a few days would be pretty cool, as would being a shark, but a Sea Lion, no I think not. Later on last night, we went out to drink, with Matt and Leigh his girl friend. We went to Earls first, and then to the Cactus club for some cocktails and stuff, I had a alcoholic milk shake which was pretty cool, but didnt get my drunk in the least. After that we had planed to go to Kits bar, but it was packed so we went to Lou's the place we had been in the night before. Stayed there till the last bus, and then came back.
Today we had planed to go up Grouse Mountain, but it was pretty misty so we decided that it wasnt worth it, and went to Capilano Suspension Bridge which was pretty cool, after wondering round North Van for a wile. The bridge seams to have no reason for existing except for tourism, which is has defiantly been used for since the 1920s. It was erected in 1889, apparently so some guys son could get to the other side of the river to go fishing, yer right. After that we just got the bus back here, and I have since been trying to do work, but failing miserably.
Tonight were not doing much, probably watching the end of the Matrix or something like that.
24-11-01 (Saturday I've been ill and doing lots of stuff)
Annkea's still here and were gonna look round Vancouver and the Aquarium. Last night we went out to have sushi, but the queue (line up) was huge so we went to White Spot for food. We then went to the cactus club and got cocktails, following that we went to a bar that Mats been on about for ages called Lou's Place (not in Neighbours) so last night had quite a bit to drink.
For the past few days I have been mega ill, and tired. Which wasnt that good since Anneka was here. The tiredness mainly resulted from the fact that Anneka's bus was an hour and a quarter late getting in, so after I picked her up and had food and got to bed it was about 2:30, and I had a 9am Class the next day.
Thursday I had loads of classes, so Anneka just hung about and looked round campus, then at night we watch O Brother Where art thou and the start of the Matrix, but I fell asleep (dam).
To night I think were gonna go to Kits bar, and possibly some other places before hand. I also need to get more work done at some point, cos its a week to exams and I havnt revised yet (neither has anyone else though). Yesterday Anneka went to the shops wile I had a mammoth 3 and a half hour entomology lab to do, and the sodding Diptera are so hard to classify and have set me back greatly.
21-11-01 (Wednesday)
Bloody work, I can't wait till its over, and it will be in 3 weeks from now. Gotta leave soon to get Anneka from the Grey Hound station, she got the greyhound at 7 this morning and gets into Vancouver at 10:10 tonight.
In other news, its raining again today, which isn't different from the past 4 days, and from what people say wont change for the next couple of months.
Tidied my room today, its well clean compared to normal, you can actually see the floor. 20-11-01 (Tuesday)
Got quite a bit more word done today, but then got pissed of with it so I put some more pics on my web page. I have pinned and identified a lot of my insects, but Im now thinking about the finals, which will be over in 4 weeks. I havent even considered them yet, keep on thinking there ages away.
Anneka is coming up tomorrow, to stay for a wile, so I will have lots to do this weekend. We are also pretty near finishing the organisation of the Skiing this Christmas, which is taking forever, but I cant wait.
Tonight Gonna pin the rest of my insects then watch a film.

Been trying to do work most of today, its not good. For my Entomology course work I only have 25 insects, which will give me a grade of about 60%, which considering my mid-term will place me with a finally grade of about 65% which is shit. I have got a bit done, but really not that much today, arse.
Not doing much tonight, might watch a film later. Loads of classes tomorrow, and in the afternoon I need to start classifying my insects. Not much to say really.
18-11-01
Today got woke up at 8, by the arse next door, so only managed about 5 and a half-hours sleep. Feeling particularly groggy from last night, and also the early wake up, I did some work and stuff in the morning. Then this afternoon went to watch Harry Potter, with is a pretty good film. I haven't read the book, but the film was defiantly worth watching and managed to keep me entertained all the way though, wich very few films can do. I went to see the film with Matt and His girlfriend, then after we went to white Spot for dinner. Tonight I watched the New Simpsons and the new X-files, the Simpsons was good and the x-files just confusing (since non of us saw last weeks) I have since sorted though all my work and I'm now pretty worried about the amount of work I have to do again, like my entire entomology project in 2 weeks, when will this term ever end??
Last night was pretty good too, we got pissed and went to the Brick Yard, a dodgy pub, down town. That was quite a good night and I managed to meet a few new people and also talk to more of first floor.
Still not sure what the hell to do over New Year. Anneka is coming up on Wednesday, so I will be doing stuff with here this weekend I think, but not sure what, maybe eventually get to go to the Aquarium.

Last night I ended up watching films, I watched Raiders of the lost Arc, and then Good Will hunting. Raiders was brilliant as normal, and Good Will, despite having Robin Williams in it was also fairly good.
Today I had to get up at 7:45 in order to go to the Ski stuff sale, so I did. I went to the sale with this girl from geography, Ray, and her sister and Dad (it was an invite only thing) but it felt weird going with another family. I got 2 jackets and some Snow Pants for $285, feel pretty guilt about spending that much, but its good stuff and should last a wile. This afternoon I watched Planet of the Apes, the original with Heston, Brilliant movie.
Tonight, and now in fact Im going out for Dave's Birthday, I think were going to some place called the 'Brick Yard' not sure what to expect, but it should be good.
16-11-01
Wow almost finished, well at least for a day or two. I have just handed in my Biology essay and my Geography project, meaning that all I have to do now is the Geography Labs, and to sort out my entomology collection (which will take days) and then start revision. Not sure whats going on tonight might just watch a film. Last night I got my hair cut, in a operation that has been long needed, though it isnt really that short.
Tomorrow is going to be a mad day, I have to get up and be at the bus loop for 8:10 so I can get the bus to the cheap ski stuff sale, where Im gonna get a jacket. Later on tomorrow its Daves Birthday and so Im gonna go out with First floor and get pissed. All this should nacker me out for Sunday, when I can Sleep all day, so a relaxing weekend planned then.
Finally getting Christmas sorted, Im going skiing for the first week with Jerry at Whistler. But then I dont really know still, so if any one wants to come up and do stuff, as always feel free to come, especially for new years. I had considered going back home for New Year, but this would be mega expensive, so not sure about that option, it depends on, whats going on here really (also No car at home).

Ooops for got to update it yesterday. I havent really been up to much though, today has mainly been classes, I still have to finish that dam bio essay that I have had all week. Last night I just sat about and get drunk, watched the Simpsons and then talked and stuff.
Yesterday I got a piece of Entomology work back, I got 13 out of 18 so not bad, the work had been to write a resume for and insect. Firstly I have never wrote a resume, and they didnt tell us what we needed. This was very much reflected in the comment at the bottom of my page saying, "good info, but not really in a resume format." so Basically I knew every think biological I needed, but because I didnt write it in the correct format, I lost 5 mark, stupid assignments.
Anyway to night Im planning on getting a but drunk and watching a film, but first I need to finish that essay.
13-11-01
Back in Vancouver. What a cool relaxing weekend, just to get away from all the work and stress like that was amazing. I have some pics, but also have and essay for tomorrow and one for Friday, so they are getting priority. That being said I had all my classes today and then went into town, to look for CDs and DVDs. I think Im just gonna copy CDs of people (though I cant find anyone with the Wedding Album) But DVDs on the other hand are so cheap here (half price, and as low as $9) so I think Im gonna start a Region One collection. However that means I need a region one player, but I dont know if I should get a stand-alone or one for my PC?
Anyway all this talk of DVD players, go me thinking about money. I worked out how much money I need to come home with, which is enough for the flight back, and to Buy and insure a car back in the UK. Hopefully I will be able to get a job back home over summer so I can get a faster or bigger car. I also need to get what Im doing in the summer sorted out, not to mention what the hells going on this Christmas.
Anyway enough of all that, yesterday I came home from Oregon, which as I said above was such a good break. I didnt really do much on Sunday, I got the grey hound back from Corvallis to Portland (2.5 hrs) in the morning and the hung about browsing Portland in the afternoon before getting the plane back. On Sunday night we just went out for food and then got a reasonably early night. Both Anneka and Alex had class on Monday.
11-11-01 (Sunday Phil, you know Remembrance Day)
Im now sit here at Oregon State University in Corvallis OR.
I flew out on Friday, it was only a small plane like about 46 seats, and the flight was pretty quick too. I got to the airport and called Anneka, then she turned up with a Guy called Alex, who had a car, which was cool, because we hadnt really arranged how or where to meet. He has a BMW 325i, which has a 2.5 L engine, hes only 18 too, so it is a mad car, and pretty cool with a good stereo, and also a good CD collection (Duran Duran, Blur etc)
We then went for food, and then to Kriss house, where we were staying. This was strange cos neither me or Anneka had ever met Kris, and to top it of Kris had gone camping and wasnt actually in. So we met his parents and stayed the night, I slept in the converted softer bed, and Anneka had the spare room, Alex slept in Kriss room. So we sat about and watched Empire.
The next day, Anneka Alex and I went into Portland, we looked round the Saturday Market and then looked round some other shops. At the market we watched a trailer for a film that was up and coming, and then did a survey about it, which was cool, and we used some cool glasses with screens in them to watch it too. After that were spent a wile looking at Plasma Screen TVs in the Mall, and then went for food. We then drove about a bit and went back to Kris's house. This time Kris was actually there, and so we met him finally, his mum cooked up spaghetti. In the evening we went to see a gig by a local bad called "helio sequence", this was held at the 24hr Starbucks which was certainly different than anywhere I have ever seen a band before. We stayed there a wile and met some strange guys who Alex knew, who wanted us to go and drink in a field, but we didnt and instead when back to Kris's and we sat about and watched High Fidelity and Drunk. We had to smuggle the drink in though because of the silly drinking laws.
This morning we got up late and left Kris's house, and drove to Corvallis. On the way we stopped at Alexs Dads for a while and then got here, very hungry and went for food. I have met 2 other girls from Lancaster, one girl from Oregon and a guy from Oregon. Not sure whats going on tonight, probably sleep.
I get back at 8:25 tomorrow into Vancouver Airport. And then another hour and a half to UBC. Still not sure how Im getting from here to Portland Airport though, but it will all work out.
9-11-01 (Friday Noon)
69% in Forest and Agriculture Climatology, which is pretty good, compared to the rest of the class.
And in case you didnt know that Canada 3000, the jokers who flew me into Canada have gone bankrupt. They are or were Canadas second largest airline, and so the airport today is going to be hell I think, though It shouldnt effect me, cos Im fling with Air Canada.
8-11-01 MORE (still Thursday Phil)
Right got the essay done, didnt end up wearing the antlers to geography, but when we were going in, there was a news crew filming an interview for a local TV station, so I took a pic of that, it was very exciting. (Not really, just different) Tonight I think Im gonna watch Chasing Amy with Tyler and Andy, havent seen that for a wile.

It was pretty good and I managed to get some free stuff from Moosehead Beer, I got a T-shirt, a big bottle, and some antlers. Andy reccons hes gonna wear them in geography today, I reccon it wont happen, well have to see (take my camera!). Yesterday I didnt get much academic work done but did work for 5hrs for the AMS Referendum stuff. I have finished there now, cos it was only this week and I have an essay to do today, and then leave at about 5:30 tomorrow, which means I have to leave for the airport at about 2.
Still cant wait till skiing, I have found a girl who know when a factory sale for Helly Hanson is on, where you can get $300 jackets for $60! So I think I might have to get Helly Hanson, but only cos its cheap.

Bollox tones of work today, I have had one Entomology class and a Biology class already, Im now waiting for Andy to go for lunch quickly before my Geography tutorial group meet up for the assignment. Later I have a Geography class, followed by an Entomology lab then 3 hours of work, finishing at 21:00 tonight, bugger. Then perhaps I can start my Geography paper!
I did work yesterday, Its ok, but boring, I only did an hour yesterday which was enough. I have 3 hours today and 4 tomorrow, then finished. Yesterday night I tried to start arranging my house for next year in Lancaster, quite hard when youre in another continent!
Anyway I better go, work and all, cant wait to get away this weekend though.

HSBC are arse holes, they have now just cancelled my debit card, for no reason any one at the branch can come up with, and cant get me a new one for 3 weeks. So Today Im gonna go down close the account, and open an account some where else. So if anyone ever needs a new bank account, dont go to HSBC, they dont give a dam about their customers. What a load of F**K WITS!

Well as I sit here listening to Duran Duran, and trying to do my, boring, Forest and Agriculture Climatology lab, I certainly which I was in one of those mad tropical locations in the video for Rio. I am however looking forward to going away this weekend, to Oregon, that should be good to get away from all the work.

I have just had Japaneses with Tyler, Andy and Clare, amazing food once again, I love it. I havnt done that much to day at all, I have sorted out my room and computer, burning a lot of stuff to CD and so have free memory on my PC now for the first time in ages. Though I only got up at 10:30 this morning, Im knackered still and need to sleep, but the work needs to be done, dam it.

Organising a skiing trip is bloody hard, especially when there is limited accommodation and half the bloody content wants to go there at the same time as you. So thats why I have been trying all afternoon.
Yesterday night we went to the house meal, which was pretty good, and then we watched Coyote Ugly which was an ok film, but at points you felt like the director or scripter couldnt be arsed to finish of a scene or deal with the boring bits.
This morning I got a job, Im now an official ballot officer for the AMS (students Union) voting, for next week. This means I get paid $10 and hour for sitting about watching people vote, for 10 hours next week, which is pretty cool.
I have just updated my web page, with the rest of the pics from Seattle, so there all up and all the links are at the bottom of this page.
Tyler and Andy want to cut my hair today too, and they arent satisfied with just cutting it, they wanna do something too. Im quite worried about it, letting them to loose on my head.
Right well I suppose I better do some work now, I have quite a bit due in next week, and also have to get ready for the states and work too.
Seattle - the way home 2-11-01
Going out tonight for a House Dinner, should be good, but might not get drunk cos I need to get good sleep. Not had any spare time today, to put up any pics so I will do that tomorrow morning I think. I also need to sort out skiing for this Christmas, also need to sort out next weekend. Last night I hung about with Andy and his 2 cousins who are up here wile travelling the world. They set of for San Francisco this morning. We talked for quite a wile then watched 10 things I hate about you.
With all this film watching Im now seriously considering a Region One DVD player for my laptop. I would get an external one and a box, to like it with by USB I think. But films here are half the price of a home and theirs more selection too. I will have to work out how much travelling I want to do and also home much skiing will cost first though.
O-yer still cant get the wax out!

Well, I have one question for the world, how the hell do you get wax out of your hair? For last night I went to the club as a mad scientist, for this I borrowed Sarahs lab coast, and then spiked my hair up. I used Andys wax to do my hair, though good on the night this has turned into a major problem today, cos I cant getting the bloody stuff out of my hair.
Anyway handed in my essay, wrote up my labs and had 2 classes and a field trip today, so all in all quite rewarding. Although I was slightly hung over for the first few hours!
Well No pics today, will put more on tomorrow though, Im of to bed for hopefully a long sleep.
